Have You Had Your Mammogram?

During the month of October you see a lot of Pink Ribbons around the community. These ribbons remind us of the thousands of women and families affected by Breast Cancer everyday. However this should not only be a reminder of those already affected by the disease, but a reminder about the importance of breast cancer screenings.

Every woman over age 40 or with risk factors should get a mammogram every 1 to 2 years. "Mammography is an essential test for women because it can identify cases of cancer before symptoms appear or a lump becomes palpable, thereby making the treatment of disease simpler and less expensive, "says Dr. Atwal, Sutter North Ob/Gyn.

During the entire month of October Sutter North Medical Foundation will be offering low cost mammograms to under and non-insured women 40 and older for $30. For more information on Low Cost Mammograms call 749-3301 or click here
