Recognizing the Importance of Communication

Communication is vital to life. Hearing, and understanding speech is what connects us to what is most important, other human beings. Without the ability to easily communicate it becomes more difficult to interact with those we care about. Our hearing and balance system is a sense that we often take for granted. Unfortunately we don’t think about the importance of our hearing health, until it causes a problem communicating with others.
As we recognize Better Speech and Hearing month in May, it is important to spread awareness and know the facts about hearing and balance disorders.

Sutter North kicks off "Walkin' the Park" Program

Did you know Wednesday May 28th is National Senior Health and Fitness Day? In honor of recognizing older adults in the Yuba Sutter Community, Sutter North Medical Foundation in collaboration with the Sutter County Health Department and the Yuba City Senior Center will kick off a new exercise program called “Walkin’ the Park”. This program is designed to increase one’s heart rate, strengthen muscles and provide a structured exercise schedule for those individuals who do not like to walk alone.
Participants in the “Walkin the Park” program will meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in a fun group setting alternating between local Yuba City Parks. Health lectures will be available as well as incentives for those who increase their distance. A $5 registration fee is required and includes a t-shirt and pedometer to help you get started. The Program Kickoff is May 28th starting at 8:00am and incorporates a walk from the Yuba City Senior Center at 777 Ainsley Avenue to Sutter North Medical Foundation, at 460 Plumas Blvd where refreshments will be served followed by free health screenings and a presentation. Transportation will be available after the reception to take participants back to the Senior Center if needed. If you would like more information about our Kick-off event on Wednesday, May 28th please call 822-4608.
